Wagyu means “japanese cattle” and stands for an exceptional breed from Japan. The breed is also known as “Kobe-Rind” or “Kobe beef”, but this name is just eligible for animals born, raised, fattened and butchered in Kobe area in the prefecture of Hyogo in Japan. Usually Wagyu cattle are black, but there are also red ones. They are a medium-sized breed, weighting between 600kg and 1000kg depending on their sex.

Our farm is situated in Kuhlhausen, a small village which is part of the hanseatic town of Havelberg in the North of Sachsen-Anhalt near the junction of the rivers Elbe and Havel. This area, called Elbe-Havel-Winkel, is subject to conservation status due to its importance as a breeding area, stopover site and wintering ground for waders and waterfowl.

After the collapse of the GDR our parents ventured the step into self-employment and founded an agricultural company constituted under civil law (GbR).
